100 solar powered rowing boats competing in the sunlight.

This is just a test, and it works.  Good fun too.
I saw the flotilla going down the Thames for the Queen's Jubilee Pageant on the TV the day after I filmed this, and while there's no intended connection with that it did make me smile.  I did have a shocking 'oh bloody hell' moment a couple of weeks ago, when I stumbled across a real connection with the Jubilee that I'd have preferred to avoid, but how was I to know the Spirit Of Chartwell would interfere with what I've been surreptitiously beavering away at for the past few months?  Things should be back to normal now.  Well, more normal anyway.

This is half of the consignment of boats that arrived earlier this week from China.  I've still got quite a bit of assembly time ahead of me to put the remainder together - it's not complicated but when you've got 200 of anything a bit fiddly to build, that's ages.  It's either zen or really irritating, and I guess the zen trick is to convince yourself it's zen.

The boats will need to be partially dismantled again so I can get them into their final location as easily as possible, so this lot are only temporarily assembled.  I know they won't fall apart once the oars are attached properly, but I will have to do a bit of weatherproofing to keep the water out.

I am now wrapping up the preparation stages of my Legacy installation - there might be one more thing to check out, but I'm kind of there now with the preparation.  All will be revealed shortly.

Sadly I have only recently discovered the song "Losing You" by Hey Negrita, the Lemon Jelly mix. I have been hopelessly hunting for lyrics to the 6 minute 40 second version of this song in hope of understanding the connection to the first few verses and the title chorus. There is a one tine set of lyrics that defies understanding right before "Losing You" first appears. Normally I wouldn't bother anyone about such a trivial thing, but this has stuck in my brain like a Roman sword and will not go away. After hours (literally hours) of trying to understand the lyrics with every setting known to man on my mp3 player, I appeal to you "save me from the impending insanity". I love the song and it seems to be so in sync with the woman I care about. However, I really don't want to 'lose her'. Please don't misunderstand my desperation for insanity. I'll save that for the next message! I love your music and I have already paid fro a fair amount of it on Amazon.com (sorry to be an itune hater). Thanks in advance (great hope inserted here).

Hi Ron,

I'm very pleased the track means so much to you. I know that feeling of grasping for an elusive something - glad I can do something to help avoid 'impending insanity'...

The original lyric in the Hey Negrita track was: "Love that hurts and love that breaks and love that leaves a painful taste, oh yeah..."

... but what you've been listening to is my (see below) remix, where I altered it to the following:

"Love that hurts and love that leaves and love that breaks and love that hurts and love that leaves, hurts and breaks and leaves a painful taste, oh yeah..."

I did that because I liked the tumbling of it. Hope that clears it up - may you have a long, unlost life with your woman!

Best

Nick

PS I say 'my' remix, because the proper track credit is meant to be "Nick Franglen of Lemon Jelly Remix" (unwieldy to say the least) as it was a remix I did alone, not with my LJ partner Fred.

Hi Nick,

Thank you so much for clarifying the lyrics to "Losing You". While my sanity is most likely still in question, at least it won't be over that beautiful song. I'm sure my therapist will be most disappointed. Not to worry, he has plenty of love sick, song crazed fools to keep him occupied.

I too love the way the vocals roll and tumble together, especially the verse I asked about. Very seldom does a song get to me on so many levels. Thank you so much for the song that did it best!

I'm certain my woman and I will only get lost in each other. May you have a long fun life of shepherding cats and solar powered toy row boats.

Cheers,
Ron

I'm going to jump on the 'Where is the flotilla now?' bandwagon and ask the obvious... Howz it going in solar powered toy rowboat land? It's been a bit more than a year and I was hoping for a follow up video. I can hardly wait for the weekly series!

I expect "All will be revealed shortly" has been changed to "All will be revealed eventually". That's OK, I've got plenty of patience for something worth waiting for.
